Welcome to Mr. Gardner's Physics and Engineering class page. Here you'll find my contact information, course outlines, and some information about myself. Enjoy!
About me and my teaching
My name is Sean Gardner, and I'm from Louisiana.
I studied physics at both Fordham University and Louisiana State University. I minored in Mathematics, and concentrated in Secondary Education. Put simply, I am very qualified for teaching science, and have been doing so since 2019.
The first, most obvious goal in the classroom is science education. This is done through inquiry based discovery labs, as well as group work, debate, and questioning. It's my goal that a student never has to believe my word that the world works the way it does. It should be proven through evidence and data that students come to understand how the world works.
The secondary goal in the classroom is that students will develop a growth mindset, and to learn how to deal with as well as overcome failures. This is done through equitable grading practices, such as Standards Based Grading. Anyone can learn anything; they just need the time and tools to try again.

Aside from being in the classroom, I am an avid hiker, snowboarder, gamer, rollerblader, axe thrower, pool player and cyclist. I enjoy learning about the natural world by being in it.
It's important to me that students also have opportunities to explore the world outside of school, and to develop an identity as someone other than just a student. This is why I will rarely assign work to be done outside of class. My teaching philosophy is simple: Less homework, more thinking.
